Role of the City Manager
Clinton operates under a council-manager form of government, whereby the Mayor and City Council are responsible for policy decisions affecting the city. The City Council appoints the City Manager to administer the overall city organization. The manager coordinates the work of department heads and other employees, who help ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of services.
John Connet has been City Manager of Clinton since 2002. Before coming to Clinton, he was risk manager for Hickory, NC and the town manager of Winterville, NC. John has his Bachelor’s Degree from Western Carolina University and his Master of Public Administration from Appalachian State University. John is a member of the International City/County Manager Association and the North Carolina City/County Manager Association.
