To improve the quality of life for Clinton residents, businesses, and visitors through responsive, efficient, and effective services that maintain city facilities, provide a safe and friendly transportation system for motorists and pedestrians, provide a safe and reliable water supply, and properly dispose of wastewater and solid waste.
Role of the Public Works & Utilities Department
The Public Works Department provides many essential services for citizens, including refuse collection (both residential and commercial), buildings and grounds maintenance, street and sidewalk construction and maintenance, environmental services, fleet maintenance, cemetery management and maintenance, and pest control. One of the most important services the department provides is to ensure safe drinking water to the public and the treatment of wastewater.
Chris Doherty has been Public Works Director of Clinton since 2005. He has been in public works since 1988 when he worked in North Lauderdale, Florida. After serving as public works manager there, he left for Oakland Park, Florida to become the assistant public works director. Chris holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Nova Southeastern and an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Broward Community College in Ft. Lauderdale. Chris is certified through the Solid Waste Association of North America and belongs to the American Water Works Association and American Public Works Association.
